My Goal? Volleyball

My Ultimate Goal This Year Is To Get Better At Volleyball.

That can mean many things. Volleyball has a wide range of concepts you need to know to become a better player so i will narrow down the details a bit.

  • I play club volleyball on a 14-2's team
  • I am a middle blocker
Here are the steps I will take to achieve this goal by the end of the season:

1.) Jumping- I am the main blocker so I need to jump high over the net to block the balls that are being hit over from the other team. In order to jump high I need to strengthen my legs, especially my calves. I already do 2 exercises to do this.
  • Jumping at random times. This might be a little weird but sometimes I'll just randomly pull myself from whatever i'm doing and touch the ceiling. I mainly do this in the morning, during commercial breaks, and before I go to sleep. At this moment if I jumped and touched the highest ceiling in my house I can get about half of my middle finger to touch the ceiling. My goal is to be able to put my entire palm on the ceiling by the end of February.
  • Using exercise bands. I have a set of three different fitness bands each with different stretch levels. I use the hardest one, place the middle of the band in the middle of my foot, and just slowly push my foot out and in.
2.) Work on spit-second reactions-Sometimes a ball will get into a hard to reach spot and I have seconds to get to it. I need a lot of speed and endurance if I want the point.
  • To get speed and endurance I will use the elliptical more often. Running for about 30 minutes every other day will help me stay in the game and help me run faster across the court and give me endurance so that when I dive or fall, I will be able to get up really quickly and get back in the game.
